- Gordon ISD is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Girls' Basketball Coach. This role will be tied to a teaching position, which is to be determined based on the applicant's certification and district needs. Possible certifications may include Generalist 4–8 or History 8–12. We are seeking a high-energy coach who is passionate about developing student-athletes at all levels—youth, middle school, and high school. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to building a competitive and positive program, and the ability to grow fundamental skills across all age groups. Additional coaching duties, such as cross country, track or softball, may be assigned based on experience and program needs.
- Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate Valid CDL Bus Driving License Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of core academic subject assigned Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules Ability to instruct, supervise and evaluate student athletes Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: 3-5 years coaching or participant experience in sport assigned preferred
