- Primary Purpose: The ARD Specialist is responsible for coordination, planning and preparation of compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education services. The ARD Specialist is responsible for chairing, or co-chairing, ARD meetings, and may serve more than one campus. The ARD Specialist prepares and facilitates meetings but does not participate in the decision-making. Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification): Special Education Experience (2 years Preferred) Valid Texas Drivers License Major Responsibilities: Compliance Oversee the scheduling of ARD meetings to ensure the appropriate development of paperwork is completed and that all timeline requirements are met. Compile and maintain ARD documents to ensure compliance with state and federal law as well as local policy. Oversee the maintenance of student program files to ensure compliance. Through collaboration with district and campus administration, supervise the completion of all documentation related to the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee. Implement school board and district policies, procedures, and operational guidelines. Professionalism/Confidentiality Maintain confidentiality. Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Demonstrate an acceptance of and an ability and willingness to work with individuals of varying physical and mental capacities from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Keep appointments and adhere to designated work schedule. Use time in a productive manner. Demonstrate the ability to successfully work collaboratively and independently. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Additional Responsibilities and Expectations: Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Serve as the central point of contact for campus staff for issues related to student special services. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and local board policy. Open to learning the laws, processes, and policies for servicing students with disabilities. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Strong computer skills to implement multiple and diverse programs. Attend all department team meetings and faculty meetings (as required). Attend all professional development trainings (as required). Travel (as required). Ability to transition with district/campus/department changes. Supervisory Responsibilities: None
