- Primary Purpose: Oversees Campus Principals and Administrative Services Department, working specifically with Student and Staff Services and Human Resources to accomplish district goals. Supervises campus principals, Student and Staff Services department, and Human Resources Department, and Executive Director of Athletics. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Management • Work with Curriculum Department to provide support to the instructional programs and the professional learning of staff. • Collaborate with administration, principals and staff to determine needs regarding instructional and non-instructional staffing. • Assist with the implementation of the state evaluation system for teachers (T-TESS) and administrators (T-PESS). School/Organizational Climate/Public Relations • Manage activities in a manner which promotes congeniality, teamwork and collaborative decision-making among staff members. • Follow all federal, state and local laws, policies, regulations and procedures in the performance of duties. • Ensure that all public information activities reflect the district’s goals and objectives. • Direct the activities that are designed to recognize employees for performance and service. Personnel Management • Direct the recruitment, assessment, selection and assignment of personnel for each vacancy within the District that is designed with best practices. • Supervise and evaluate job performance of Administrative Services Department to ensure effectiveness. • Serve as Title IX Coordinator for employee-related complaints. • Administer the District’s complaint procedures and serve as a hearing officer as needed. • Prepare information for the Board of Trustees as requested by the Superintendent. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management • Provide updated enrollment numbers to Superintendent and Board of Trustees as directed. • Serve in the absence of the Superintendent at designated functions or events. • Support the Superintendent in his/her overall administrative efforts, effectively disseminate his/her directives to the staff and public, keep him/her informed of pertinent developments and seek his/her advice or decision as necessary. • Serve as the staff facilitator for District committees as requested by the Superintendent or designee. • Review and communicate all Board Policy changes and updates to the staff and community. Student Management • Work with the Director of Student and Staff Services on the annual update and board approval of the Student Code of Conduct. • Work with local police department to keep campus principal’s informed of any criminal activity by students. • Work with district DAEP principal on issues related to JJAEP. • Administer the District’s complaint procedures and serve as a hearing officer as needed regarding student issues. Supervisory Responsibilities: Share supervisory responsibility for non-exempt staff with Executive Director of Human Resources and Dir of Student and Staff Services. Supervise District Principals PK-12, Executive Director of Human Resources, Director of Student and Staff Services, Executive Director of Athletic and others as assigned. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
- Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Master’s Degree and Mid-Management Certification Required Trained in State Appraisal System Superintendent Certification Preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: • Strong organizational, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills • Demonstrated skills in public speaking and public relations Experience: Five years administrative experience Prior experience as a central office administrator preferred.
