Description/Notes
The Director of Accounting is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the financial accounting and reporting activities of the district. This position ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and supports the district’s financial integrity through accurate reporting and sound internal controls. The Director provides leadership and coordination in the areas of budget management, accounts payable/receivable, grants management, and audit preparation.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree or CPA preferred. Special Knowledge/Skills: • Advanced technical knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems, and economics • Thorough knowledge of governmental accounting (GASB standards) and Texas Education Agency (TEA) accounting guidelines, Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG) • Excellent written and verbal communication • Proficiency in accounting software • Ability to implement policy and procedures • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines • High degree of integrity and confidentiality
Salary Range
$92,502.00 to $130,393.00
