Description/Notes
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Director of Emergency Management and Safety oversees all safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs across the district. This leader will coordinate day-to-day safety operations, ensure compliance with state and federal school safety requirements, develop and test emergency response plans, and serve as the district's NIMS/ICS Incident Commander and Emergency Operations Coordinator. From managing security systems to collaborating with law enforcement and public safety agencies, this role sits at the intersection of planning, leadership, and decisive action.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a proven background in safety, security, or emergency management — ideally within a school district or other governmental entity. You should be someone who can lead with calm and clarity under pressure, build collaborative relationships across departments, and translate complex safety requirements into practical, effective programs. A Bachelor's degree is required. At least five years of relevant experience is expected, with two or more years of supervisory experience preferred. Experience with the Texas School Safety Center and a background in investigations are a plus. Why PBTISD? Salary Range
Min: $93,043.74 - Mid: $116,304.67
